We hope to see you all tonight at shul for services and the meal, starting at six thirty. Here is something to get your mind working, it is Leibish’s dvar of the week.
Shalom !!!
just got back from Uman, Ukraine- the “rainbow gathering” of Jews, the bonanza of yiddishkeit, the great shared teardrop of sincerity, the resting place of a Jew who cared so much that we can still be warmed by being near him-
Probably a lot of you remember Jeremy Pertman- he came along for the ride, and boy, was it an awesome time.
Haven’t got time to really write, but ponder this- who are you when all the trappings of society fall away and you are left with no luggage in a communist-era town run by a disjointed mafia with swelling crowds of Jews looking for bit of light, keeping sefer Torahs in tennis racket cases and playing Rebbe Nachman music to techno beats- indeed – who are you in your deepest disjointedness, with only the central axis of faith to paradoxically be at rest as the great world-wheel spins beyond familiarity?
